Rapper Snoop Dogg is facing criticism after questioning the inclusion of LGBTQ+ representation in Disney–Pixar’s 2022 film Lightyear.
Speaking on the It’s Giving podcast in August 2025, the 53-year-old recalled watching the animated movie with his grandson.
He said the child asked about a same-sex couple raising a child, a moment that left him unsettled. “It messed me up,” he admitted.
“They’re putting it everywhere. These are kids—do we have to show that at this age?”
Lightyear, which premiered worldwide on 17 June 2022, featured one of Disney’s first openly same-sex couples.
A kiss between the character Alisha Hawthorne and her partner was initially cut from the film but later reinstated after protests by Pixar employees, sparking debate at the time of release.

Snoop’s remarks have reignited scrutiny of his past record on LGBTQ+ issues, including criticism of his earlier lyrics and public comments.
