Soludo Backs Tinubu’s Reforms, Calls for Progressive Coalition

Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has once again thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that their 22-year friendship and shared progressive ideals are reasons for his unwavering support.

Speaking to State House correspondents on Tuesday after a closed-door meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Soludo, wearing a white cap emblazoned with Tinubu’s insignia and the words “Progressives are working together”, said political leaders committed to progressivism should unite to strengthen democracy and drive economic growth.

“All political parties that profess progressivism should unite in a massive coalition to advance our democracy and economic development,” Soludo said. “I have no apologies for supporting President Tinubu. He has been my friend for 22 years, and you don’t deny your friend. I am impressed by his bold economic and structural reforms. We are on the right path, and we need to stay the course.”

The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor praised Tinubu’s economic and structural reforms, describing the President as “healthy, hale, and in high spirits.”

He noted that such leadership was vital for Nigeria’s transformation.

On security in Anambra, Soludo revealed that his administration’s holistic strategy, combining “kinetic and non-kinetic” measures, has restored relative peace.

He disclosed that a Homeland Security Law passed in January 2025 has helped flush out “deadly native doctors” who mislead youths into crime.

“These native doctors, who give false hope and lure young people into criminality, are now on the run,” he stated. “We are also empowering our youths with one-year intensive skills training. About 5,000 have already completed the program, and another 8,700 will receive substantial funding in the coming months. Our goal is to create thousands of youth millionaires within our first three years.”

Soludo stressed that youth empowerment, infrastructure upgrades, and targeted social programs are central to his administration’s efforts to tackle economic hardship.

“We are intentional about our approach — intelligence gathering, decisive law enforcement, and economic empowerment go hand in hand,” he said.
