South-East Governors Forum has intervened in the raging feud between Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, and former governor Rochas Okorocha.
Supporters of both Uzodinma and Okorocha had engaged in a fight on Sunday when the former governor allegedly broke into the Royal Spring Palm Apartment, Owerri, sealed last Friday by the Imo State Government. The police in Imo later arrested Senator Okorocha over the matter.
On Monday, the Forum’s Chairman, who also doubles as Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Francis Nwaze, said the governors of states in the region had already intervened and making efforts to resolve the impasse between the two leaders.
Umahi noted that both Uzodinma and Okorocha had been contacted on plans to resolve the issue and have agreed to a truce.
According to the statement, “South-East leaders are capable of settling their disputes internally instead of washing their linen in public.
“We sue for calm among the supporters of both leaders to ensure a timely and amicable resolution of the disagreement.
“They should also shun provocative statements as we work towards restoring normalcy to the situation.”
