Sowore Alleges Threat to Nnamdi Kanu’s Brother, Lawyer in Kuje

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has raised alarm over alleged plans to harm Fineboy Kanu, the younger brother of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and his lawyer, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, inside Kuje Correctional Centre.

Sowore made the claim in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, alleging that “special warders” at Kuje Prison had been assigned to carry out the attack under the instruction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“URGENT: We have been informed that plans are allegedly in place at Kuje prison to harm Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, Fineboy, and Aloy Ejimakor, his Special Counsel, inside Kuje prison by special warders assigned by the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Sowore wrote.

The allegation follows the arrest of both men on Monday during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja, where demonstrators demanded the immediate release of the IPOB leader.

Sowore, who has been at the forefront of the protest movement, called on authorities to ensure the safety of the detained individuals, warning that any harm to them would further escalate tensions.

As of press time, neither the Nigerian Correctional Service nor the Presidency has issued an official response to the allegation.
