Sowore Criticises Proxy Signing Of Tinubu’s Nomination Forms

Human rights activist and former presidential aspirant Omoyele Sowore has raised concerns over the handling of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election process, particularly questioning why third parties are involved in completing his nomination forms.

Sowore’s remarks came after the Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi, signed Tinubu’s presidential nomination forms, reportedly worth N100 million.

In a statement released Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze, Umahi described the move as a show of support for the administration’s continuity and its ongoing policies.

He characterised the signing as a significant step in Nigeria’s development trajectory, emphasizing the need to sustain progress achieved under the current government.

According to the minister, the administration has made notable strides in infrastructure, especially in road construction and rehabilitation, which he said are vital to economic advancement.

He added that Tinubu remains capable of completing ongoing projects and driving further development across various sectors.

Umahi also called for sustained public backing, stressing that stable leadership is key to meeting long-term national objectives.

Reacting via his verified X account on Tuesday, Sowore criticised the situation, questioning the president’s absence in the process and suggesting possible motives behind it.

“Why is someone always filling Tinubu’s @officialABAT election forms for him when he isn’t there? Is it so he can distance himself when they fill in his dubious qualifications or lack thereof?” he wrote.
