Tax Reform Bills: Catalyst for Nigeria’s Economic Revival — SGF Akume

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has described the tax reform bills as “visionary legislation” crafted to revive and stabilize Nigeria’s economy.

Speaking on TVC’s Politics on Sunday, Akume called on Nigerians to rally behind the proposed reforms as they navigate the legislative process in the National Assembly.

“These bills are well-envisioned for Nigeria and Nigerians. Let us allow the legislative processes to take their course. These reforms will ultimately benefit everyone when fully implemented,” Akume affirmed, emphasizing their significance.

Addressing the concerns surrounding the reforms, Akume asserted that President Bola Tinubu has maintained public goodwill despite the bold economic decisions taken over the past 17 months, including the introduction of the tax reform bills.

Highlighting key strategies of the administration, he noted that the removal of fuel subsidies and the harmonization of foreign exchange rates were critical steps toward economic stabilization. “It is easy to destroy but difficult to build. These reforms aim to rebuild the Nigeria that was destroyed by previous administrations,” Akume stated.

Expressing confidence in the administration’s efforts, he assured Nigerians that the positive outcomes of these measures would soon be evident, inspiring renewed faith in the country’s economic trajectory.
