Speaker Abbas Demands Swift Rescue After ‘Gruesome’ Abduction of 25 Kebbi Students

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has strongly denounced the violent attack on the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, which resulted in the abduction of approximately 25 students.

In a formal statement released on Monday, the 17th of November, 2025, Tajudeen described the invasion, which tragically “claimed the lives of some school officials,” as “unfortunate, gruesome and despicable.”

The shocking incident occurred on Sunday night when bandits stormed the school, located in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area. The attackers opened fire, “shooting intermittently before whisking away the students.”

The Speaker issued an urgent call to the nation’s security apparatus, demanding they “mount a swift and coordinated operation to rescue the abducted girls.” He underscored the critical importance of protecting educational facilities, noting that “schools must remain safe spaces for children.”

Tajudeen delivered a strong warning, stating that “repeated attacks on educational institutions pose grave implications for the country and must be urgently addressed.”

He expressed his faith in the nation’s defense forces, affirming his “confidence in the ability of the military and other security agencies to rescue the students and bring the attackers to justice.”

The Speaker concluded by reaffirming “the House of Representatives’ commitment to supporting efforts aimed at protecting lives and property, especially in schools.” He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and offered prayers for the “safe return of the abducted students.”
