The Super Eagles of Nigeria have issued an official apology to their fans following their 2-1 loss to Rwanda in the final match of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers.
The defeat at home marked a disappointing end to Nigeria’s journey in the qualifiers.
The team, which had shown promising performances throughout the campaign, faced a setback as they were unable to secure a victory in front of their home crowd.
In a statement released after the match, the Super Eagles expressed their disappointment:
“We are disappointed to have ended our great run in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers with a home loss,” the team said.
“We know this result is not what our fans expected, and we share in their frustration.”
Despite the setback, the Super Eagles have shifted their focus towards future challenges.
The team has now turned their attention to the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and the AFCON tournament scheduled to take place in Morocco in 2025.
“We will bounce back,” the statement continued. “Thank you for all your support through the qualifiers, and we look forward to seeing you in Morocco.”
Fans are hopeful that the Super Eagles will regroup and put in a strong performance in their upcoming international fixtures as they aim to build on their successes in the World Cup qualifiers and target a triumphant campaign in Morocco.
