Nigeria’s Super Eagles will kick off their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign later this month with a home clash against Madagascar in Uyo.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the fixture on Tuesday through a graphic shared on the official Super Eagles X account.
Nigeria will host Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, before travelling to Morocco four days later for their second Group L encounter against Guinea-Bissau on Sunday, September 27.
The two matches will mark the opening two matchdays of Nigeria’s qualification campaign as the Super Eagles look to return to the continental showpiece after failing to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria were drawn in Group L alongside Madagascar, Tanzania and Guinea-Bissau.
The qualifying competition will be played on a home-and-away basis, with each participating team expected to play six matches during the campaign.
However, Group L has a different qualification scenario because Tanzania is one of the three hosts of the 2027 AFCON and already has an automatic place at the finals.
As a result, only the highest-ranked team apart from Tanzania in Group L will secure qualification for the tournament.
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027, with Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania serving as co-hosts.
For the Super Eagles, the campaign presents an opportunity to quickly put the disappointment of missing the 2026 World Cup behind them and secure a place at Africa’s biggest international football tournament.
