Super Eagles Hold 38th Place In Latest FIFA World Ranking

Nigeria’s men’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have retained their 38th position in the latest FIFA Men’s World Ranking, released by FIFA on Monday, December 22, 2025.

The ranking, which is the final update of the year, shows Nigeria remaining inside the top 40 teams globally, with no change from the previous ranking issued in November.

The Super Eagles’ points total remained largely stable following their results during the most recent international match windows.

On the African continent, Nigeria are still ranked among the top five national teams, trailing Morocco, Senegal, Egypt and Algeria.

The continental placement reflects Nigeria’s sustained competitiveness at the highest level of African football despite recent qualification challenges.

FIFA’s December ranking was influenced by international fixtures played during the October and November windows, including Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and approved friendly matches.

Nigeria recorded mixed results during the period, doing enough to maintain their global standing but not sufficient to climb higher in the rankings.

At the top of the global table, Spain remain the world’s number one team, followed by Argentina, France and England, as European and South American nations continue to dominate the upper end of the rankings.

For the Super Eagles, retaining the 38th position provides a degree of stability as attention turns to upcoming international competitions, including preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria will be seeking improved results and a higher global ranking.
