As the new European league season got underway last weekend, several Super Eagles players delivered impressive performances for their respective clubs across the continent.

Leading the charge was Victor Osimhen, who continued his blistering start to the campaign with a brace and an assist for Galatasaray on Friday night.

The Nigerian striker has now recorded four goals and one assist in his opening two matches of the new season, underlining his importance to the Turkish champions.

Samuel Chukwueze was also outstanding for AC Milan in their victory over Torino. The winger provided an assist and was named Man of the Match after a spectacular individual display.

In England, Semi Ajayi began his Premier League campaign on a high, scoring for Hull City in their 2-0 victory over Manchester United.

Chidera Ejuke also made his mark in Spain, producing a fine chipped finish as Sevilla defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-1 in La Liga on Saturday.

Nathan Tella continued the goalscoring trend among the Nigerians in Europe, finding the back of the net for his club, while Rafiu Durosinmi also got on the scoresheet during the weekend.

One of the standout performances came from Super Eagles’ new goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, who made his debut for Charlton Athletic.

The goalkeeper produced an outstanding display, making eight saves to help Charlton secure a 2-1 away victory over West Ham.

With the European season only just beginning, the performances of Nigeria’s stars will provide plenty of encouragement ahead of the Super Eagles’ upcoming assignments.

From goals and assists to match-winning saves, Nigerian players have wasted little time making their presence felt across Europe.
