Suspected Vandal Electrocuted While Tampering With TCN Tower in Ebonyi

A suspected vandal has died by electrocution while trying to tamper with a power tower belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Ebonyi State.

The incident happened at Ezilo, along the Nkalagu-Abakaliki 132 kV transmission line.

In a statement shared via its official X account on Thursday, the 24th of July, 2025, TCN said security personnel alerted the company on Saturday, the 19th of July, 2025.

It added that the deceased was not alone, but others with him escaped the scene.

Vandal electrocuted at Ezilo, Ebonyi State, while attempting to tamper with Tower 34 along the Nkalagu-Abakaliki 132 kV transmission line. Security operatives informed TCN on July 19, 2025, that the accomplices fled after the incident,” TCN wrote on X on Thursday.

The company also used the opportunity to caution against sabotage.
According to TCN, 264 electricity towers were vandalised across the country in 2024 and the first quarter of 2025.
