Members of the Taraba State House of Assembly elected under the Peoples Democratic Party, along with recent PDP entrants, have formally defected to the All Progressives Congress.
The lawmakers cited ongoing disputes within the PDP at the national level as their reason for leaving, adding that aligning with the ruling party at the centre would enhance federal presence and development in Taraba.
The defection comes just ahead of Governor Agbu Kefas’s planned move to join the APC on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

Kefas, elected under the PDP in 2023, has been reportedly engaging with APC leaders over a full-scale transition to the ruling party, a step many analysts say is aimed at securing stronger federal support and resources for the state.
With this shift, all 24 members of the Taraba State Assembly now represent the APC platform, positioning the party to consolidate its influence in the state ahead of upcoming political contests.
