Taraba State University Student Found Dead in Boyfriend’s Apartment

The Taraba State University community has been thrown into mourning following the death of a 100-level Mass Communication student, Comfort Jimtop Oliver, in Jalingo.

Oliver, a native of Takum Local Government Area, was reportedly found lifeless around 2 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, in an apartment located in the Bakasi area of Jalingo.

The residence belongs to a man identified as Emmanuel, said to be her boyfriend.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, ASP James Lashen Saminu, said items recovered from the scene included a bottle containing an unidentified chemical substance and a used condom.

He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death, including whether foul play was involved.

Efforts to reach the university’s spokesperson for official comment were unsuccessful.

However, staff members who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident and assured that the institution is cooperating fully with security agencies.

They further pledged that both the school and law enforcement will ensure that the truth behind Oliver’s death is uncovered and justice served.
