GIFT ROBERTSĀ
Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit, (task force) in Lagos State has seized no fewer than 80 motorcycles, also known as Okada, for disobeying the stateās traffic rules.
The task force led by its Chairman,Chief Superintendent of Police Shola Jejeloye,
carried out the raid on okada riders in the Yaba area of Lagos.
Recall that the state government, about a year ago, had warned motorcycle operators against plying some listed restricted routes.
It was gathered that many motorcycles impounded by the enforcement agency were seen loaded into a trailer.
While reacting to the seizure of the motorcycles (okada), the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, stated that the raids on motorcycles plying restricted routes would persist.
This is following the illegal operations of motorcycle riders within the metropolis, despite several warnings from the state
government.
Odumosu also said the goal of the state government and security agencies is to restore sanity and safety to roads across the state.
