Tension in Sokoko village as bandits kill nine, rustle 500 cattle

A village, Rarah in Rabbah Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on Thursday, was thrown into mourning after bandits killed nine villagers and rustled about 500 cattle.

This was confirmed in a statement by the state government on Friday.

According to a source, The raid was carried on Thursday during which many residents of Rarah sustained various degrees of injuries. About 500 cows were also rustled by the bandits.

Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs to Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Abdulnasir Abubakar Sanyinna, said in the statement that the governor, alongside heads of security agencies in the state, had condoled with the families of the victims in the state.

“The governor on his condolence to the victims where Bandits attacked a suburb village in Rabbah over  killing of nine persons, injured persons and about 500 cattles which  were rustled,” the statement said.

The governor assured his people of his total commitment to the protection of lives and property, while urging his people to cooperate with security operatives through provision of timely information for instant response.”

The governor, according to the statement, during the visit, was in company with his Deputy, Commissioner of Security

Matters, Secretary to the State Government and Heads of security agencies in the state.
