The Nigerian Senate has been shaken by the intense political battle between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, culminating in her six-month suspension.
What started as a dispute over seating arrangements escalated into a dramatic clash, with Natasha accusing Akpabio of sexual harassment. She claimed that Akpabio made inappropriate advances towards her in the presence of her husband. Akpabio denied the allegations, stating, “I do not harass women.”
After Natasha’s first petition was dismissed as “dead on arrival,” she resubmitted it with signatures from her constituents. However, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Code of Conduct ruled that she had violated Senate rules, leading to her immediate suspension. The decision, upheld by Akpabio, locks her out of the National Assembly, halts her salary, and bars her from official engagements.

Natasha has refused to back down, vowing to challenge what she calls a blatant injustice.
“This injustice will not be sustained,” she declared, signaling a prolonged battle ahead.
As the controversy unfolds, Nigerians are left questioning whether this is a matter of legislative discipline or a case of silencing a dissenting female voice in a male-dominated political space.
