Three unidentified persons died on Tuesday in an explosion at a shop on Asafariogun Street, in the Ajao area of Lagos State.
According to witnesses, the explosion, which occurred around 6pm, started from a panel beater’s workshop.
Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said three bodies were recovered from the scene, adding that two persons were injured.
“A total of nine shops were affected by the inferno. The fire has been extinguished by the combined efforts of LRU fire and the Lagos State Fire Service. Three bodies were retrieved from the debris,” he said.
The Acting General-Manager, Lagos State Fire Service, Margaret Adeseye, said one injured person was taken to the hospital.
