Three Reps Dump LP, APC, PDP For ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded a wave of new entries in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, April 21, as lawmakers announced defections from different political parties, citing internal crises as the driving force behind their decisions.

The development was formally announced during plenary by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu, as part of broader political movements ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Three lawmakers led the shift to the ADC. Thaddeus Attah (Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, Lagos) moved from the Labour Party, Usman Zubairu (Birnin Gwari/Giwa Federal Constituency, Kaduna) left the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Sani Noma (Argungu/Augie Federal Constituency, Kebbi) defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They all attributed their decisions to unresolved internal disputes within their former parties, describing the ADC as a more stable political platform at this stage of their careers.

The announcements highlighted a broader pattern of political realignment within the House, even as other members also switched parties across the APC, PDP, and Accord.

In parallel movements, Abubakar Buba (Chanchaga Federal Constituency, Niger) joined the APC from the PDP, while Ibrahim Mohammed (Bunza/Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo Federal Constituency, Kebbi) also moved from the PDP to the ruling party.

In Osun State, Mudashiru Alani (Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency) and Adetunji Olusoji (Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe Federal Constituency) left the PDP for the Accord Party.

Meanwhile, David Fuoh (Sardauna/Kurmi/Gashaka Federal Constituency, Taraba) defected from the APC to the PDP.

Following the announcements, the House adjourned plenary to Wednesday in honour of the late Muhammad Hassan, who represented Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency of Kano State. Hassan passed away on April 10 after a period of illness.

The latest defections, however, placed the ADC at the centre of attention, marking its most notable parliamentary gains in the current legislative cycle.
