Suspected political thugs, on Monday morning, invaded the Ondo State House of Assembly to prevent some lawmakers from accessing the complex.
The suspected thugs, it was learnt, converged on the Assembly complex ahead of the arrival of lawmakers earlier suspended for being loyal to Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi.
The lawmakers are Ogundeji Iroju (Odigbo constituency), Wale Williams (Ondo constituency I), Tomide Akinribido (Ondo constituency II), and Favour Tomomowo (Ilaje constituency II).
A high court in Akure, the state capital, had nullified the suspension of the pro-Ajayi lawmakers.
The lawmakers had planned to resume at plenary on Monday, but the suspects laid siege to the Assembly.
Security was beefed up within the assembly complex after the arrival of the suspected thugs.
Three out of the lawmakers are members of the All Progressives Congress while Akinribodo is a member of Zenith Labour Party, the party the deputy governor defected to after failing to clinch the governorship ticket of Peoples Democratic Party.
Ajayi is now the gubernatorial candidate of ZLP for the October 10 election.
He had defected from the APC, in June, after falling out with the governor.
