To celebrate President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second year in office, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), led by Minister Nyesom Wike, has lined up 19 days of project commissioning. This plan emerged from the 14th Executive Committee meeting of the FCTA, which the Minister chaired.
According to the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, “the commissioning of projects will commence on June 10, 2025 and will go on for 19 days.”
Projects set for commissioning include the newly renovated Abuja International Conference Centre, bus terminals in Kugbo and Mabushi, and the Apo–Wassa road. Others include the N16 interchange and roads linking Maitama through Katampe to Jahi, the Inner Northern Expressway stretching from Ring Road 3 (Idu to Kubwa Road), CN8 from N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to the Court of Appeal, and the N20 Flyover at Onnex Kubwa Road extending to Life Junction and Ring Road III.
Also on the list are access roads in Kabulsa-Takushara and Kabusa-Ketti, a road in Giri District, a 15km route from A2 Junction on the Abuja-Lokoja Road to Pai in Kwali Area Council, and roads in the Ushafa, War College, and Army Checkpoint areas of Bwari Area Council.
In addition to these, the FCT Executive Committee has approved a contract for the upgrade of streetlights along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway, also known as Ring Road I.

Richard Dauda, Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), revealed that the streetlight upgrade was one of seven memos approved for implementation. He said the expressway, a 14-kilometer, 10-lane road from Maitama to Gudu, has remained poorly lit for years.
“If you pass there in the night, you will realise that most parts of the road are in darkness. Because the streetlights have been there for close to 15 years now.
“The project was completed between 2005 and 2006, and the lights have become obsolete and no longer bright enough to lighten the road,” he said.
Dauda explained that the upgrade would introduce a hybrid street lighting system powered by newer technology to improve night-time visibility and enhance road safety.
