President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Tuesday, cutting short his annual working vacation in France and the United Kingdom, initially scheduled to end on September 19.
His jet, Air Force 001, landed at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 6:50pm.
The early return is possibly linked to critical national responsibilities requiring his immediate attention.
At the top of the agenda is the scheduled end of the six-month state of emergency in Rivers State, set to conclude this Thursday.
The emergency rule was declared on March 18 following political tensions between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, whose faction controlled a majority in the state assembly amid impeachment threats.

Security concerns escalated after oil installations were attacked, allegedly by militants.
During the emergency, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.) was appointed sole administrator to manage state affairs.
Tinubu must now decide whether to lift or extend the emergency rule under Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution, which requires a presidential decree and nationwide broadcast, actions that cannot be executed from abroad.
Additionally, the President is preparing for the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, where the high-level General Debate begins on September 23. Protocol requires that he depart Abuja at least two days before the event.
