President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the deadly suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, describing it as a “cowardly” and “cruel attempt to spread fear.”
In a statement posted via his official X handle on Sunday, June 22, Tinubu expressed outrage over the attack, which claimed several lives and left many injured. He also directed immediate government action to support the victims and their families.
“The bombing in Borno claimed the lives of innocent Nigerians and was a cruel attempt to spread fear.
“I have directed the National Emergency Management Agency to provide urgent support to survivors, and I extend my deepest condolences to the Government and people of Borno State,” the president said.
While reaffirming his administration’s commitment to tackling terrorism, Tinubu charged the security forces to redouble efforts in tracking and eliminating the remnants of Boko Haram, particularly those now targeting civilians.

“I also urge our security forces to intensify efforts to hunt down and rout the remnants of Boko Haram and crush their ability to inflict harm on soft targets as a diversionary tactic,” he said.
The suicide attack, which occurred last week, shocked the nation and drew widespread condemnation. It was reportedly carried out by a female bomber, killing dozens and injuring many in the process.
Tinubu’s response comes amid heightened concerns over security in the North East and renewed calls for stronger protection of vulnerable communities.
“Freedom of movement is a non-negotiable right of every Nigerian,” he added. “We will not tolerate any attempt by anyone or group of people to curtail that fundamental freedom through acts of extreme violence and fear.”
Offering words of comfort, the president said, “To the people of Borno… I stand with you in grief and resolve. We will not rest until justice is done and peace and safety are fully restored across our land.
“May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may God continue to protect the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
