Tinubu Condoles Bayelsa, Gov Diri Over Ewhrudjakpo’s Death

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sympathy to the Government and people of Bayelsa State following the death of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

In a condolence message released on Monday, the President extended his heartfelt condolences to Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri; the wife of the late Deputy Governor, Barrister Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo; his children; and friends, associates, and colleagues who worked closely with the departed public servant.

President Tinubu described Senator Ewhrudjakpo as a selfless and patriotic leader whose contributions to Bayelsa State and the nation were marked by diligence and commitment to public service. He recalled that the late Deputy Governor had earlier served the state as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure before his election as Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District.

The President noted that during his years in public office, Ewhrudjakpo made lasting contributions to infrastructure development in Bayelsa State and played a significant role in lawmaking and policy formulation at the National Assembly.

He urged the Bayelsa State Government and the people to uphold and preserve the legacy of service, dedication, and integrity left behind by the late Deputy Governor.

President Tinubu prayed for the repose of Senator Ewhrudjakpo’s soul and asked God to grant comfort and strength to his family, the government, and the people of Bayelsa State at this difficult time.

The condolence message was signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, and dated December 15, 2025.
