President Bola Tinubu has approved an extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, allowing her to remain in office until December 31, 2026.
Nandap, who began her career with the NIS on October 9, 1989, was initially appointed as Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024, with her term originally set to expire on August 31, 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 31, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, highlighted the president’s appreciation for Nandap’s leadership.
He credited her for driving improvements in border security, advancing immigration system reforms, and enhancing national safety measures.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service has experienced major progress in its core responsibilities under her leadership, including better border control, the modernisation of immigration procedures, and stronger national security frameworks,” the statement read.
Tinubu encouraged Nandap to remain dedicated to the service’s strategic objectives, which align with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Additionally, the president reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the NIS’s role in securing Nigeria’s borders and ensuring a safe and orderly migration process.
