President Bola Tinubu on Friday, July 25, received members of the 1999 class of governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The delegation, made up of former state governors who were first elected when Nigeria returned to democratic rule in 1999, was led by ex-Delta State governor James Ibori.
Though the exact content of their discussions was not made public, the meeting is believed to be part of Tinubu’s continued consultations with influential political figures across the country.

This group of former governors is seen as a powerful bloc in Nigeria’s democratic journey, having helped shape the nation’s political structure over the past two decades.
The meeting adds to a series of strategic meetings the President has held as he seeks to build consensus and reinforce political backing ahead of important national decisions.
