Tinubu, Jonathan, Akpabio to Headline Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit

President Bola Tinubu, his wife, Remi, former President Goodluck Jonathan, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, business mogul, Tony Elumelu, are some of the high profiled personalities billed to attend the Niger Delta Stakeholders Summit in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The three days summit, which kicks off on July 10, is being organized by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and will also have in attendance governors of the nine states of the region.

With the theme, “Renewed Hope for Sustainable Development in the Niger Delta,” the summit aims to develop strategies for economic growth and development of the region, according to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer,
Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.

Ogbuku, while speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, said the summit also seeks to translate the action plan of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and articulate a roadmap for sustainable development of the Niger Delta.

Ogbuku noted that stakeholders in the region had not come together for a long time to discuss pressing issues, and this will serve as an opportunity to do so and make informed decisions on the way forward.

“We believe that when people come together and decide on what to do, it will benefit society. That is why we are bringing all the major stakeholders to Port Harcourt to discuss challenges and proffer solutions for the way forward,” he said.

As a preclude to the summit, he said the leadership of the NDDC had met with stakeholders in smaller cycle to get their buy-in on the summit and developmental plans for the people.

The NDDC helmsman stated that during the summit, the up to date achievements of the commission under the current leadership will be unveiled and the future plans with the administration’s lifetime.
