Tinubu Lacks Capacity To Tackle Security Crisis — Okonkwo

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Kenneth Okonkwo, has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the administration lacks the capacity to tackle Nigeria’s worsening security crisis.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday, April 15, Okonkwo pointed to recent killings in Plateau State and other troubled regions as clear signs of what he described as a failure of leadership at the highest level.

“I don’t need to tell any Nigerian now that Nigeria is not working. You can imagine a President who went to Plateau and said I’m going to condole with the victims.

“He stayed at the airport and told the victims to come and condole with him,” he said.

Okonkwo also faulted the government’s handling of the country’s electricity challenges, referencing earlier promises made by the President on power supply.

“This same president was the one who told Nigerians that if he did not provide electricity, let him be voted out.

“And right there he told them, of course incompetently, that it will never happen again. I told Nigerians that Tinubu is incapable of giving security,” he said.

He stressed that insecurity remains Nigeria’s most urgent problem, warning that progress in other sectors would remain stalled without safety across the country.

According to him, recurring violent incidents, including attacks on military personnel in Borno State, reflect the severity and spread of the crisis, which he said has become a daily reality.

” It is not just that there is no security, he is incapable of doing it. Before he left the Plateau, a series of deaths immediately followed his empty declaration and empty boast, which Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has rightly described in our convention that Renewed Hope is a scam. I told Nigeria from day one that this is renewed hopelessness.

“So that Nigeria may work for security. One major important point in our theme of this convention. Because without security, there is nothing you can do.

“We are having security challenges all over Nigeria. In Borno State, our armed forces are being killed and massacred. As I talked to you, insecurity is a daily occurrence.

“So you don’t need last week to refer to the data of failure of this government. Without security, any other thing cannot come into shape,” he added.
