President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for Europe to begin a three-week annual vacation, with London, United Kingdom, scheduled as his first destination.
The President’s departure was announced on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, the trip is part of Tinubu’s annual leave and will see the President spend the next three weeks outside the country.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for Europe to begin a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave. His first stop will be London, United Kingdom,” the statement said.
The Presidency did not provide details of Tinubu’s itinerary or indicate whether he would visit other European destinations during the break.

Onanuga, however, said the President would return to Nigeria immediately after the vacation to participate in political activities ahead of the January 2027 general election.
The development comes as political activities continue to gather momentum across the country, with political parties and prospective candidates intensifying preparations for the 2027 elections.
The Presidency described Tinubu’s return as necessary for him to join what it termed the “hectic campaign” ahead of the polls.
The three-week absence comes amid heightened political engagements across the country, as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the forthcoming election season.
