President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support and goodwill as he marked his 74th birthday, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to overcoming national challenges.
In a personal message released on Sunday through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president reflected on his journey in office and the collective efforts of citizens in navigating ongoing reforms.
Tinubu thanked Nigerians for their prayers, messages, and public displays of support, including those who placed congratulatory messages in newspapers and broadcast media. He also acknowledged the encouragement he received from his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Choosing to mark the occasion in a subdued manner, the president said his decision was in line with his tradition of reflecting the prevailing national mood during personal celebrations.
“As I mark this special day, I am reminded of the challenges we have faced since initiating our reforms,” Tinubu stated, noting that despite setbacks, there are signs of progress.
He pointed to the impact of global developments, particularly the ongoing Middle East crisis, as a factor contributing to economic pressures. However, he maintained that the sacrifices made under his administration’s reform agenda were beginning to yield positive results.

He called for continued unity and cooperation among citizens, urging Nigerians to work together toward building a more prosperous and resilient nation.
“Let us continue to work together to build a stronger, prosperous and more resilient nation that will make Nigeria the pride of Africa,” he said.
