Tinubu Mourns Minister’s Mother

President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, following the death of her mother, Hajiya Fatima Musa Musawa.

The President’s message was conveyed in a State House statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, Hajiya Musawa passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, leaving behind family members, friends and associates mourning her loss.

President Tinubu described the news of her death as deeply saddening, noting that it came only a few years after the passing of the family’s patriarch, Ambassador Musa Musawa.

The President urged the minister and her family to bear the loss with fortitude, acknowledging the pain that often accompanies the death of a parent, particularly a mother.

“I received the news of the demise of Hajiya Musawa with deep sadness, occurring just a few years after the patriarch of the family, Ambassador Musa Musawa, passed on,” Tinubu said.

He noted that the deceased served as a strong pillar of support within the family and expressed sympathy to the minister and her relatives during the period of mourning.

“I condole with Barrister Hannatu Musawa and the entire family at this time of grieving over a loving mother who was also a strong pillar of support and strength within the family,” the President stated.

Tinubu also offered prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul and for strength for the bereaved family.

“I pray that Allah will grant Hajiya Fatima Musawa eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus, and grant the Minister, her siblings, and the entire family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.

Hannatu Musawa currently serves as Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, a position through which she oversees efforts aimed at promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage and expanding the country’s creative industry.

The condolence message was made public through a statement posted by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga on Monday, June 15, 2026.
