Tinubu: Nigeria Receiving Foreign Backing To Combat Terrorism

President Bola Tinubu has revealed that Nigeria is receiving international support to combat terrorism and banditry across the country.

The President made the disclosure in his 2026 Easter message, released on Good Friday, acknowledging that despite the dedicated efforts of Nigerian troops, security challenges continue to persist.

“My administration continues to make resources available and forge foreign partnerships to enable us to deal decisive blows to the agents of terror and banditry.

We have also sought and are receiving assistance from outside our shores,” Tinubu said. He did not, however, specify the countries providing aid or the nature of the support.

Tinubu recognized that security threats remain despite ongoing military operations but expressed optimism about the progress being made.

His remarks come in the wake of renewed attacks in several parts of the country, including the recent killings in Plateau State.

The President noted that security chiefs have assured him of improvements in ongoing operations.

Earlier, Tinubu indicated that Nigeria had been engaging foreign partners for military collaboration, including discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron regarding equipment and training.

He also called on Nigerians to support security agencies and to reject actions that undermine national peace.

“No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” he said.

On economic matters, Tinubu defended his administration’s reforms, describing them as necessary despite the hardships being felt by citizens.

He further urged political actors, with the 2027 elections approaching, to act responsibly and comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
