Tinubu revokes appointment of 24-yr-old FERMA chairman

President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, withdrew the nomination of Engr. Imam Kashim Imam to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency.

Tinubu, in a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, revoked the appointment.

“The President’s withdrawal of the above-mentioned nomination is directed with immediate effect. All other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA are not affected by this directive,” the statement read.

The 24-year-old fresh graduate’s appointment had sparked reactions across the country.

While some Nigerians praised President Tinubu for the appointment, others kicked and criticised the decision.

Those who disagreed with the appointment hinged their argument on the fact that Imam lacked the experience and expertise to head a strategic organisation.

But the few that supported the appointment had argued that the 24-year-old man would learn on the job.
