President Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, formally inaugurated two members of the Nigeria Law Reform Commission (NLRC) before the start of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
In a brief oath-taking ceremony held at the Council Chambers, Professor Dakas CJ Dakas was sworn in as Chairman of the Commission, while Dr Uchenna Eugene took office as Commissioner.
Moments later, the FEC, presided over by the President, observed a minute’s silence in memory of Chief Audu Ogbeh, former Minister of Agriculture and one-time National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who passed away recently.
Paying tribute, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, described Ogbeh as “a patriotic Nigerian whose service to the nation will be remembered.”

The meeting was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Dr. Esther Didi Walson-Jack, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, as well as cabinet ministers and heads of relevant ministries scheduled to make presentations.
The inauguration of the NLRC members signals the administration’s continued focus on updating and modernising Nigeria’s legal framework.
