Tinubu Vows Renewed Drive For National Prosperity, Youth Development

President Bola Tinubu has pledged to intensify efforts towards Nigeria’s prosperity, saying his recent pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia strengthened his resolve to lead the country with wisdom and resilience.

The President disclosed that he prayed for divine guidance to discharge his responsibilities and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Nigeria’s leader.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 2, 2026, by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu reflected on his Umrah pilgrimage to Makkah, where he and members of his Nigerian delegation were granted access to pray inside the Holy Kaaba.

Tinubu thanked Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for facilitating the visit, describing the experience as a rare spiritual privilege.

Sheikh Dahlulah Muthawal of Masjid al-Haram led the President into the sacred structure.

Recalling his pilgrimage before the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu said he had promised to return to Makkah in thanksgiving after his prayers were answered.

He described his emergence as President and Commander-in-Chief as a divine blessing that carried an obligation to serve Nigerians responsibly.

Referencing Qur’an 3:26, which affirms Allah’s ultimate authority over sovereignty and power, Tinubu said political leadership should be exercised with humility, noting that public office was neither permanent nor a personal entitlement.

Reaffirming his commitment to national development, he said his administration would continue pursuing policies aimed at strengthening the economy, improving living conditions and expanding opportunities for young Nigerians.

The President expressed optimism about the economy, describing its foundation as solid and the country’s emergence from a difficult period as encouraging.

He stressed that investment in the younger generation was essential to securing Nigeria’s future, adding that the decisions of present leaders would shape their legacy.

Tinubu’s latest pilgrimage follows his visits to Saudi Arabia in April and December 2022, ahead of the APC presidential primary and the 2023 general election. He also performed Umrah in November 2023, shortly after attending the Saudi-Africa Summit in Riyadh.

The October 2026 visit came days after he launched his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna on October 24.

Members of the delegation included Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate; and governors of Borno, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Kwara states.

BUA Group Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu and Oando Chief Executive Officer Wale Tinubu were also among the delegation.

The President expressed appreciation to the Saudi royal authorities for the hospitality extended to the Nigerian delegation and the opportunity to pray inside the Kaaba.
