Tokyo Olympics: Ese Brume wins first medal for Nigeria

Nigeria has finally won its first medal at the ongoing 2020 Tokyo Olympics, thanks to the country’s long jumper, Ese Brume.

The 25-year-old jumper claimed the bronze medal in the women’s long jump at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo on Tuesday.

She won the bronze with a jump of 6.97m while Germany’s Malaika Mihambo won the gold medal with a 7.00m jump followed by Brittney Reese of the United States, who won the silver medal.

Meanwhile, Nigeria is hopeful of a second medal after Blessing Oborududu on Monday beat Mongolia’s Battsetseg Soronzonbold to reach the final of the women’s freestyle 68kg wrestling.
