Former All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, has made it clear that he will not be joining former Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, in the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Cole, who appeared on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Tuesday, the 9th of September, 2025, reaffirmed his ambition to contest for the state’s top seat in 2027. He explained that despite past setbacks, he is determined to pursue his dream of becoming governor.

Having lost out in 2019 and 2023, Cole described his fresh move as a third attempt, showing his resolve to secure victory this time.

“Nobody can take away the fact that he brought me into politics.

I have always had a lot of respect for individuals like Rotimi Amaechi and others.

I have consistently said he has a goal and ambition where he wants to go, and so do I. I have my own ambition and goals,” he stated.

While Amaechi has shifted focus to the presidency, Cole stressed that his priority remains Rivers State and that his loyalty lies firmly with the APC.
