The Edo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gbenga Agun, reportedly passed away on Thursday, the 2nd of October, 2025, after collapsing during an event in Benin City.
Information indicates that Agun had just concluded delivering his keynote address at a programme organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates when he suddenly slumped.
He was immediately taken to the Military Hospital on Airport Road, Benin City, for urgent treatment but was confirmed dead on arrival.

As of press time, both the Edo State Command of the NSCDC and the agency’s national headquarters have not issued any statement on the incident.
