Trailer-Truck Collision Kills Six On Yobe Highway

At least six people have died following a head-on collision between a trailer and a truck along the Potiskum–Damaturu highway in Yobe State on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when the truck allegedly drove against traffic and collided with the oncoming trailer. “The Canter truck was on the wrong lane when it crashed into the trailer,” one witness said.

Four occupants of the trailer were trapped and pronounced dead at the scene, while two other fatalities were occupants of the truck. Two additional persons survived the crash and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the accident, stating, “Six people lost their lives, while two others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment.”

Abdulkarim added that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and urged road users to drive safely and observe traffic regulations.
