Troops Arrest 18 Suspected Boko Haram Logistics Suppliers In Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested 18 persons suspected of supplying logistics to Boko Haram terrorists.

The military said the development underscores the continued challenge of civilian-linked support networks sustaining insurgent activities in Nigeria’s North-East.

This was contained in a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s Facebook page on Wednesday.

According to preliminary reports, the suspects were intercepted while traveling through Gubio en route to the Gudumbali axis in Borno State.

It was gathered that the suspects were allegedly transporting supplies intended for members of the insurgent group Boko Haram.

Early findings indicate that many of those arrested may have been motivated by economic hardship, highlighting how vulnerable individuals are being exploited to facilitate terrorist operations.

The military described the arrests as a significant disruption of a logistics chain critical to insurgent survival in the region.

They warned that any form of collaboration with terrorist groups—including the provision of food, fuel, intelligence, or other support—constitutes a serious offense with far-reaching consequences for national security.

The Nigerian Army emphasised that the fight against insurgency cannot be won by military efforts alone.

Instead, it requires sustained cooperation from local communities, particularly in identifying and reporting suspicious movements or activities.

Residents across affected areas have been urged to remain vigilant and resist inducements from criminal elements. Authorities stressed that timely intelligence from civilians plays a crucial role in the success of ongoing counterinsurgency operations.

The Army also pointed to the importance of addressing underlying socio-economic challenges that make communities susceptible to infiltration.

It called for continued investment in empowerment programmes, skills acquisition, and access to basic services as part of a broader strategy to build resilience and reduce reliance on illicit activities.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and restoring stability across the North-East.

However, officials noted that achieving lasting peace will depend on a unified approach that combines military action with long-term development efforts and strong community partnerships.

Citizens were ultimately urged to stand firm with security forces in rejecting terrorism and supporting initiatives aimed at securing a peaceful and stable future for the region.
