The Defence Headquarters on Friday, June 13, announced the arrest of a Chinese national and several terrorist collaborators in Borno and Yobe states.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, told journalists in Abuja that troops of Operation Hadin Kai carried out the arrests during coordinated raids in Kukawa and Ngala local government areas of Borno.
According to him, the Chinese national, who claimed to be a miner, is currently being held and questioned over suspected illegal activities.
“The Chinese national has been detained and he is undergoing interrogation.
“When the interrogation is completed, we will be able to furnish the public with the details of why he was there in the first place, how he was arrested, whether he was the only one there, or he had accomplices. All this will be unfolded after thorough investigation has been carried out,” Kangye said.

Kangye also revealed that several logistics suppliers and collaborators linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP were apprehended, while scores of terrorists, including men, women and children, surrendered between June 6 and June 11, due to increased military pressure.
He said troops across all theatres have stepped up operations to tackle the country’s complex security threats.
“We remain dedicated to transparency and will keep the public informed of our ongoing efforts to ensure the stability and security of our great nation,” Kangye added.
He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to safeguarding lives, enforcing the rule of law, and maintaining peace nationwide.
