Troops Arrest Two Suspected Gunmen, Recover Illegal Arms In Katsina

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested two suspected gunmen found in possession of illegal firearms in Gigina village, located in Dutsi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

According to intelligence sources quoted by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagagola Magama, on Saturday, the suspects were apprehended by troops of the 171 Battalion stationed at a Chinese company site in the area.

It was gathered that the arrest followed reports of gunfire that triggered panic among residents.

Security sources disclosed that the troops responded swiftly to the distress calls and intercepted the suspects, who were subsequently found carrying weapons.

Items recovered from them include two Dane guns, two daggers, and two mobile phones.

During preliminary questioning, the suspects claimed they were hunters from the Kwaram Tama and Shinkafi communities within the state.
