Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled an attack by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists on a military base in Garaha, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing six insurgents and recovering arms and ammunition.
The terrorists reportedly launched the coordinated assault on Forward Operating Base Garaha at about 9:07 pm after advancing on foot from the LAR axis.
The Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Goni, the troops responded with superior firepower and coordinated tactics, forcing the attackers to retreat without overrunning the military position.
He said subsequent operations in the area led to the discovery of six terrorist corpses, confirming the number of insurgents killed during the encounter.
Items recovered from the scene included one PKT machine gun, three ammunition belts containing 67 rounds, six AK-47 rifles, 11 AK-47 magazines, 157 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and a 60mm mortar bomb.

The military spokesman added that troops also recovered an Android phone, a Canon portable video recorder, three camelback water bags, a magazine carrier and assorted clothing.
Goni, however, disclosed that some soldiers sustained casualties during the confrontation, adding that the injured personnel were receiving medical attention while evacuation arrangements were underway.
He said troops had intensified surveillance and continued operations around the affected area to prevent further attacks and recover additional items of operational importance.
The military described the successful repulsion of the attack as a demonstration of the troops’ combat readiness, resilience and determination to defend their positions and weaken insurgent capabilities across the North-East.
Goni reaffirmed the Theatre Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven military operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement, protecting vulnerable communities and restoring lasting peace and security in the region.
