Troops Nab Suspected Killers of Catholic Priest in Kaduna, Unravel Shocking Details

 

In a swift and strategic operation, troops of Sector 7 of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) have apprehended two suspects connected to the brutal murder of Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu, a Catholic priest abducted and slain in Tachira Village, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The breakthrough came after intelligence-led troops stormed a Ruga settlement in Warsa-Piti Village, Lere LGA, where they cornered the prime suspect, Pate Yau, a 33-year-old with a dark agenda.

During a tense interrogation, Yau reportedly cracked confessing that he had been hired by Douglas Henry, a fellow resident of the priest’s compound, to orchestrate the deadly abduction.

Armed with this revelation, OPSH troops wasted no time. They swooped into Agwan Sariki Tachira in Kaura LGA and took Henry into custody. Both men are now facing intense questioning as investigators piece together the chilling plot behind Father Okechukwu’s tragic demise.

The beloved priest of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tachira, was kidnapped on the night of 4th of March, 2025. By dawn the next day Ash Wednesday his lifeless body was discovered, sending shockwaves through the community.

With the suspects now in custody, authorities are determined to unravel the full extent of this crime and ensure justice is served.
