Tottenham Hotspur’s new interim manager, Igor Tudor, has described the club’s precarious position in the Premier League as unacceptable, as he seeks to steer the team away from a relegation battle.
Tudor, who previously managed Juventus, was appointed until the end of the season following the sacking of Thomas Frank last week, after Spurs fell to 16th in the league table.
Speaking to Tottenham’s in-house media channel on Tuesday, Tudor acknowledged the challenges ahead, including a lengthy injury list that affected Frank’s eight-month tenure.
“I need to be, with my staff, very intelligent to find the best possible way in a very short time.
I’m coming here knowing that the situation is not easy. There is no time to find excuses. Each of us needs to give something more, something extra,” he said.
The interim boss faces a baptism of fire when Tottenham host league leaders Arsenal in the north London derby on Sunday.

Tottenham currently hold a five-point cushion above West Ham United in the battle to avoid relegation.
However, West Ham have gained seven more points than Spurs in the past eight league games, while Tottenham have won just two of their last 17 league matches.
“The position of the club at this moment is one that nobody can accept. Every Tottenham fan cannot accept the situation. We are aware of that. But it’s not enough to just be aware of that,” Tudor added.
He also highlighted the challenges posed by injuries, noting that captain Cristian Romero is suspended for the Arsenal clash, while James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Lucas Bergvall are all sidelined due to injuries.
Tudor insisted that he and his coaching staff must find the best system to suit the available players as Tottenham seek to halt their poor run and avoid slipping further down the league table.
