The United States has supplied additional military equipment to the Nigerian Air Force as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and other security threats in the region.
The United States Africa Command, AFRICOM, disclosed the development in a statement shared on its official X account on Thursday.
According to the command, the equipment was transported to Nigeria aboard a US Air Force C-17 aircraft over the weekend under an existing Foreign Military Sales agreement between the United States and Nigeria.
AFRICOM described the delivery as another step in the growing security partnership between both countries, saying the equipment would support Nigeria’s ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
“Partnership in action: A US Air Force C-17 delivers equipment to the Nigerian Air Force this weekend,” the command stated.

It added that the delivery formed part of a Foreign Military Sales agreement designed to strengthen the US-Nigeria partnership and assist Nigeria in its efforts to combat terrorism across the region.
The latest support comes as the Nigerian military continues operations against terrorist groups, bandits and other armed groups posing security challenges across the country.
The United States has maintained defence cooperation with Nigeria through military training, operational support and the provision of defence equipment aimed at improving the country’s security capabilities.
The latest delivery is expected to further enhance the Nigerian Air Force’s capacity as the country intensifies efforts to tackle terrorism and restore security in affected areas.
