The United States Mission in Nigeria has confirmed it will shut down its embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos on Tuesday, the 15th of July.
The closure, according to the mission, is “a mark of respect for the late former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari.”
This aligns with the national public holiday declared by the Nigerian government to honour Buhari, who passed away in London on Sunday, the 13th of July, following a brief illness.
His burial is slated for Tuesday, the 15th of July, 2025, in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State.
