A United States lawmaker, Barry Moore, has proposed that immigrants entering the country on religious worker visas should be required to reject Sharia law and pledge loyalty to the U.S. Constitution.
Moore made the statement in a post on X on Wednesday, where he also announced new proposed legislation named the “CRUSADE Act.”
Sharia law, which is based on Islamic religious teachings, is applied in different forms across various Muslim-majority nations and communities around the world.
Explaining the intent behind the bill, the congressman said it seeks to block the promotion of religious systems he believes are incompatible with American constitutional principles.

Sharia law justifies the persecution of religious minorities, restrictions on women, and the elevation of religious law above all.
“This is why I introduced the CRUSADE Act,” Moore said.
“Immigrants entering our nation as religious workers should disavow Sharia and uphold the Constitution,” he added.
Meanwhile, the United States Constitution guarantees freedom of religion under the First Amendment, while immigration rules for religious workers are regulated through federal visa and immigration laws.
