The Founder of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Ralph Uwazurike, has declared his readiness to testify in defence of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Uwazurike also said he would participate in any peaceful protest demanding Kanu’s release.
Kanu, who previously served as MASSOB’s Director of Media under Uwazurike before founding IPOB in London, has remained in custody since his controversial rendition to Nigeria in 2021.
In a video message shared on Wednesday, the 8th of October, 2025, said Kanu’s continued detention was a calculated move to disgrace the Igbo people.
He said: “I have listened to the court appearance of Nnamdi Kanu today and the presentations made by his lawyers, I want to be part of any peaceful demonstrations in Abuja or anywhere in Nigeria for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
“I have personally reach out to Aloy Ejimakor, telling him that I want to be one of the defence witnesses to Nnamdi Kanu.

“Just last week, I reminded him of my desire to be the defence witness to Kanu, you can ask Ejimakor.
“So for this new development, I’m ready to go to Abuja or any part of Nigeria to be part of the demonstrations, provided it’s anchored on non-violence, if it will be a peaceful protest, I will be there.”
Uwazurike also dismissed the terrorism charges against Kanu, accusing the government of operating double standards.
“There is thing like terrorism. When my men were being killed in the Southeast, were they terrorists? What did they do? When Ojukwu was declared to be arrested by DSS because he supported Uwazurike, he was given a one-way ticket, economy class to Abuja, what did he do? It was just to humiliate the Ndigbos by commanding our leader,” he said.
