Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has ordered the immediate and indefinite suspension of all field operations of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO) following the death of two men in Owerri on Monday, November 11, 2025.
The victims, riding a motorbike along Akachi Road near Wethedral, were killed earlier that day when ENTRACO operatives, driving at high speed during an enforcement operation, lost control of their vehicle.
The incident sparked public outrage and demands for accountability.
State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, confirmed the suspension in a statement issued Monday night and said the government will set up a panel of inquiry to investigate ENTRACO and other task forces.

Governor Uzodimma also directed the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, to arrest and prosecute anyone operating under the name of ENTRACO or other task forces who intimidates or harasses residents.
He warned that anyone found culpable, regardless of rank, would face full legal consequences.
Residents with evidence of unlawful acts by ENTRACO operatives have been urged to report to the police or the investigative panel, whose composition will be announced soon.
